A burst main, a road washing away, or water off across a whole area. Call rather than filling in a form.
A main bursts. A repair has to be done with the line shut. A pump or a treatment plant goes out of service. Heavy rain fills the rivers with silt and we shut a plant until it clears. And in the dry season there is sometimes simply not enough water at source to supply every area at once.
We aim to give two working days’ notice before a scheduled interruption. That is the standard in our Customer Service Charter and it is what we work to. Where a job cannot wait that long, we will tell you as soon as we know.
Scheduled work covers repairs and replacements that need a line shut off, treatment plant and pump maintenance, new mains being tied into the network, and supply regulation in the dry season.
Fill what you need the evening before. A couple of covered buckets for washing and flushing, and enough drinking water to see the household through the day, will cover most planned interruptions. Fill the kettle too.
If you have a storage tank, this is a good moment to check the float valve is working, rather than finding out afterwards.
Sometimes a job takes longer than we expected. When it does we update the notice rather than leave the original time standing. It is worth checking here before you call.
Hurricane season runs from June to the end of November. A little preparation before the weather arrives makes the days afterwards much easier.
